2008 was another milestone for Kidsclothes. Since inception, the total distributed pieces of undergarments and toothbrushes have reached 988,251 pieces. Our main thrust is to and will remain “provide socks and underwear for children of need”.
We have plans to reprint our Kidsclothes brochure on a yearly basis to keep our potential/existing donors better informed of achievements such as our announcement that 100% of all donations goes towards the purchase of new socks, underwear, toothpaste and toothbrushes for the children. A private donor pays all overhead costs.
The dollar matching effort between Kidsclothes and Family Resource Center/PTA’s throughout Kentucky/Indiana is gaining momentum and we are most pleased to have large numbers of return customers again calling on Kidsclothes. When it comes to our specialty items of socks and underwear and the dollar-matching program, we are proud to offer the best deal in town, with costs far lower to the organization than Walmart or Sams. Within this program the dollars from organizations are reinvested in more new socks and underwear.
The 100,000-piece levels that were first reached in 2004 and again in 2005 and 2006 can only continue with new support for our program. Our annual fundraiser will be held again at St Lukes Episcopal Church, Anchorage, KY on Saturday June 14th, the evening before Father’s Day. 2007 raised in excess of $38,000.00 for Kidsclothes and we have greater expectations for 2008. Mark your calendar and plan on joining us. We promise a great “family program” for all that attend; wonderful BBQ, drawings, fellowship and Bluegrass music. The festivities will start around 5:00 p.m. and lasts until around 9:00 p.m.
Kidsclothes continues to feel that children are our greatest natural resource; and those less fortunate can find hope and higher self esteem in the fact that Kidsclothes cares for them. We believe our efforts can and do make a difference in the lives of those children we touch. The challenge is ever present as the numbers in need grow. We must strive to match that need with funds and efforts. Only with your continued support can we grow to meet that challenge.
